The ASAB Open House is an annual event that is organized for introducing the graduating batch to the industry for increasing opportunities for job placements. The Open House was organized on 30th April, 2019 and was attended by representatives from a large number of renowned organizations and distinguished faculty from other universities. The Keynote Speaker for the event was Dr. Farrukh Hassan, CEO of “The First Biotechnology Company”, an organization that is a premier in developing biofertilizers in Pakistan. A few other guests were also invited to speak about their organization, the type of research being conducted and the potential opportunities available for students. The organizations that were represented included NIBGE, Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital, Shifa International Hospital, Rehman Medical Institute, Alpha Genomics, A and K Pharmaceuticals, Cirin Pharmaceuticals, Punjab Oil Mills, Four Brothers, CABI, ABAD and Consuldents. Moreover, the event provided the students with a platform to showcase their final year research projects which were judged by a panel of industrialists and academicians. The project titled “Identification and extraction of potential peptide vaccine candidate against Avian Pathogenic E. Coli (APEC) using reverse vaccinology” won the Best Poster Award. The Project was supervised by Dr. Amjad Ali and the student team behind the project included Aysha Lala Rukh (Team Lead), Anum Ghafoor, Dania Khalil and Iraj Ishfaq. While, the runner up award was given to the project titled “Fungal glucose oxidase purified via Next Generation Chromatography System, a potential bio bleaching agent for Local cotton fabric”. The Project was supervised by Dr. Fazal Adnan and the student team included Fatima Iftikhar, Rumsha Fatima, Samia Idrees and Umme Farwah.
