Principal ASAB Visit to China

National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) Atta-ur-Rahman School of Applied Biosciences (ASAB) has joined hands in coordination through Chinese Study Center NUST under the supervision of Pro Rector Academics NUST Dr Osman Hassan with Weifang National Agriculture & Development Comprehensive Pilot Zone, Qingzhou Municipal People’s Government and with Weifang Engineering Vocational College in the field of agriculture.

The Pakistan-China Agriculture Project is a significant initiative that aims to boost agriculture productivity in Pakistan through collaboration with China. In continuation of these collaborations Chinese Study Center at NUST arranged 3-day trip of Principal ASAB Prof. Dr. Hussnain A. Janjua to attend the World 1st Expo on Digital Agriculture (WEDA) 2023 in Jinan Shandong, China. The expo was followed by the several meetings with the Chinese Agriculture companies and organizations to have business discussions regarding their cooperation in agriculture sciences and technology extension, Chinese learning and technical training programs. The visit was scheduled from April 26 to April 30, 2023. Prof. Dr. Hussnain A. Janjua attended the Digital Agriculture Expo organized by Ministry of Agriculture in Weifang.

Prof. Dr. Hussnain A. Janjua visited Weifang National Agricultural Comprehensive Zone (Zhongbai Kitchen) to discuss the modern and smart ways of agriculture.

Prof. Dr. Hussnain A. Janjua got a chance to visit Weifang Institute of Food Science and Processing Technology center and then National Comprehensive Pilot zone for Agriculture Opening and Development Weifang.

 

Prof. Dr. Hussnain A. Janjua met with the Director and reps of Qingzhou Wang Nanxiao Shengfeng Land Professional Cooperative Co.,Ltd. and visited the New Generation of High Temperature Greenhouses Applying IoT Technology.

 

Also, Prof. Dr. Hussnain A. Janjua visited Qingzhou Jiuzhou Farm Vegetable Professional Cooperative to discuss the greenhouse with soilless cultivation technology. Shandong Qingliangshan Ecological Agriculture Development Co., Ltd reps met with the Principal ASAB where they visited the fruit bases such as apples and kiwifruit.

On April 29th, 2023 Prof. Dr. Hussnain A. Janjua attended the meeting arranged by Weifang Engineering Vocational College on Digital Agriculture.

During this meeting Principal ASAB had discussions with Mr. Wang Jinming Vice President Weifang Engineering Vocational College, Mr. Li Yiqiang Director Assistant of Tobbaco Institute of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Mr. Pan Zhongchang, Director of Qingzhou Bureau of Agricultural and Rural Affairs, Mr. Wang Jianxun and Jia Lei, and reps. of relevant enterprises and other accompanying persons. The purpose of the meeting was to exchange ideas and discuss cooperation opportunities. Moreover, Principal ASAB gave brief introduction of ASAB Faculty and their projects related to Agriculture sciences, the working environment and purpose of NSTP and SINES for companies to build their R&D setup at NUST, faculty

exchange opportunities, capacity building of the both institutes, collaborative projects on Smart Agriculture and establishment of Smart Agriculture setup/center at NUST.

Prof. Dr. Hussnain A. Janjua visited Shandong Qingliangshan Ecological Agriculture Development co ltd to discuss the possible ways of collaboration in the field of Agriculture sciences and technology.

Prof. Dr. Hussnain A. Janjua got the opportunity to visit Huasheng Agricultural Group Co., Ltd that is a comprehensive agricultural seed company which engages in scientific research, production and sales.

Lastly, Prof. Dr. Hussnain A. Janjua visited Qingzhou Yatai Agricultural Technology Co., Ltd to discuss and see the designs and processes of all kinds of greenhouses, greenhouse accessories and supporting facilities. The company offers services in flower cultivation and small plantation for decoration.

In conclusion, The Pakistan-China projects served as a model for other countries in the region to emulate and reinforce the belief that cooperation and partnership can lead to significant achievements and benefits for all.
