Microbes exist in various environmental habitats ranging from the ecological environments to the human body, animals, plants, and fermented foods, and play an essential role in sustaining ecosystems and supporting our lives. Environmental Microbiology Group (EMBL) has been constantly interested in seeking answers to questions on the microbiomes of environmental ecosystems such as “Who (what kind of microbes play a key role?)”, “What (what role do they play?)”, “How (how do they function?)”, “Why”, “Where”, and “When”.
EMBL is in using
ØAn omics data production system (Meta-omics)
ØA bioinformatic analysis
ØMetabolome analysis equipment (HPLC, GC-MS)
ØSeparation and culture system for microbes
ØOther molecular biological analysis equipment
EMBL is conducting research on these main topics
ØMicrobial ecology research through multiple meta-omics analysis.
ØAnalysis of key metabolic microbes in human gut and their associations with human diseases and.
ØResearch on microbial genetic, metabolic characteristics and utilization of useful genes.
Studies on the characterization of microbes for sustainable Biotechnological applications.
