Seminar
Department of research Atta ur Rahman School of Applied Biosciences (ASAB), National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) is arranging its 1st series of “Meet the Scientists” Colloquium. The series is meant to invite the Pakistani scientists contributing nationally or internationally in the field of “Biological Sciences and Allied disciplines”. The speakers will talk about their own research contribution and its scientific as well as societal or socioeconomic impact.
Title: High throughput technologies to snapshot RNA-Protein Interactions
Speaker: Shahzina Kanwal, Ph.D. (Young talent-foreign expert, China)
Date: 18th February 2022 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM
Venue: ASAB Auditorium, NUST H-12 Campus, Islamabad
Dr. Kanwal is working as a foreign expert at Guangzhou Institutes of Biomedicine and Health, Chinese Academy of Sciences. She will discuss two high throughput technologies to capture RNA binding proteins and how they can be implemented to snap-shot RNA metabolism in physiological and pathophysiological conditions.
With more than a decade of research experience, Dr. Kanwal has investigated versatile aspects of molecular biology, with a focus on Cancer Therapeutics, Stem Cell Biology & Regenerative medicine, RNA biology, and Epitranscriptomic. Her work has been published in well-reputed journals such as Nature Methods, Nature protocol, Nature Cell Biology, Science Advances, Genomics, Proteomics & Bioinformatics, Stem Cell Research, Plos One, among many others.
Before moving to China, she has worked at ASAB-NUST as an Assistant Professor. Her doctorate is from Paris V University with distinction and MS degree from Montpellier II University, France. In addition to different high talent grants and fellowships from Chinese National and Provincial bodies, Dr. Kanwal is awarded a foreign high talent recognition in the Great Bay Area of China.
